According to the data of the National Statistical Committee, in January-May 2017, industrial output in current prices was recorded at BYN 35.6 billion or 106% in constant prices as compared to January-May 2016, with 103% in Mining and quarrying; 106.5% in Manufacturing; 105.7% in Electricity, gas, steam, hot water, and air conditioning supply; and 97.9% in Water supply; waste management and remediation activities.
The index of industrial production was 108.4% for May 2017 to May 2016 and 100.3% to April 2017.
In 11 of 13 manufacturing industries, industrial output for January-May 2017 exceeded the level of January-May 2016.
The biggest increase was observed in Manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (+19.3%); in Manufacture of products of wood and paper; printing and reproduction of recorded media (+18.5%); Manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (+17.9%); in Manufacture of textile articles, wearing apparel, articles of leather and fur (+9.9%); in Manufacture of basic metals; manufacture of fabricated metal product, except machinery and equipment (+9.7%); and in Manufacture of electrical equipment (+9.1%).
