This enquiry was held jointly with the Republican Confederation of Enterpreneurship, Institute for Privatization and Management Research Center, Research Center “Strategy”, Institute of Sociology of NAS of Belarus, Center Sociological and Political Researches of BSU etc.
The representatives of the expert council on ESI evaluation explained to BUSINESS NEWS that the current results show the growth of pessimistic expectations of representatives of business entities. The business circles he look at the Governments announcements on Belarusian business climate and conditions for doing private business with a critical eye, the experts stressed.
According to the enquiry results 47.7% of respondent expect further deterioration in Belarusian business environment. The number of businessmen expressing pessimistic expectations concerning economy growth prospects rose by 11.5 percent points compared with the results of the previous enquiry.
As for conditions for doing private business, 19.6% of respondents expect that the situation with access to funding resources will be deteriorated (12.8% according to the previous enquiry), 32,9% of respondents expect decrease of profit (19%), 30,5% of respondents expect reduce in customers’ new orders (15.6%), 27.7% of respondents expect decline in production of goods and services (15.6%).
According to the expert council, many representatives of business entities are wondering more often about possibilities to move their business abroad. The Government should take it as a signal to assume necessary effective measures on improvement of business climate.
The economic sentiment index is calculated on the base of enquiry on economical situation and business climate in the country held among individual entrepreneurs, managers of small and medium enterprises. The ESI shows the judgmental estimate of economical processes given by representatives of business circles and is evaluated twice a year.
